Natural Lifemanship (NL) Certification is a comprehensive program designed for professionals seeking to integrate trauma-informed equine-assisted services into their practice. Rooted in relational neuroscience, the certification emphasizes principles over techniques, fostering individualized, healing client interactions.
Becoming NL dually certified requires completion of the following:
Fundamentals of NL Level 1 training
NL Intensive Level 2 training
Two group consultation series (group mentoring and case staffing) and/or equivalent
Eight consultations/case supervision and mentorship with NL consultants around the practitioner's caseload
Three "team" consultations/case supervision and mentorship sessions with an NL clinician and equine professional
Video assignments, which are discussed and debriefed during consultation
Documentation of at least 60 session hours providing the service for which one is becoming NL Certified (e.g., psychotherapy incorporating horses)
Maintenance of annual certification fees and continuing education
NL certification is a rigorous program offering human service professionals the training and mentorship needed to apply the Natural Lifemanship approach to effectively incorporate equines into the work they do.
